Steps for Braised Pork Ribs with Green Beans

Step 1
Blanch the pork ribs in cold water, then rinse them thoroughly. Pour oil into the pot, add about 7 pieces of rock sugar. Simmer on low heat until the sugar melts. Stir-fry until it starts bubbling and then turn down the heat. Stir-fry the pork ribs until they are browned.
Step 2
Add green onions, ginger, garlic, cinnamon, bay leaves, star anise, light and dark soy sauce, and Chinese five spice.
Step 3
Add a bottle of beer, any cheap one will do. Then add enough boiling water to just cover the pork ribs. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat. Cover and simmer for 50 minutes.
Step 4
Traditionally, the green beans should be stir-fried. However, this time, take out some frozen green beans, put them in, bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat. Simmer for 20 minutes – my green beans were already cooked. Remove the green beans, turn up the heat to thicken the sauce. Serve hot.
